The
Whidbey Island Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society was established
in 1987 to bring together a small but active group of rhododendron enthusiasts.
With a current membership of 60, it is now one of the 5 chapters that
make up ARS District 2 in Puget Sound.
The chapter
meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Firehouse located at
1164 Race Road in Coupeville. A short social hour begins at 7pm with
the meeting following at 7:20. Our meetings are informative
for everyone from novice to seasoned expert and starts with questions
by anyone with a rhododendron problem or in need of general rhododendron
or companion plant advice. We then have a short meeting followed by a
45 minute rhododendron or garden related program. We have 8 formal meetings a year, a summer
picnic in August and a holiday dinner in December.
Chatting about rhododendrons
and companion plants is what we do best and is the reason we all come
together as members. Everyone is welcome.
